The London Knights’ roster no longer features four goaltenders.
On Thursday, the Knights traded Emanuel Vella to the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick. If Vella plays 12 games for the Attack, the pick will become a fourth rounder.
Vella was a third round pick of the Knights in 2014 out of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens organization.
Injuries to Tyler Parsons and Tyler Johnson thrust Vella into a starting role for the Knights and he made four consecutive appearances, going 3-1. In five games this year with London, Vella has a goals against average of 2.95 and a save percentage of .895.
The Toronto native will add some experience in behind Attack starter, Michael McNiven. Up to this point, 17-year old Riley Daniels has served as McNiven’s back-up in Owen Sound.
The Attack sit seventh in the Western Conference with a record of tens wins and nine losses.
London and Owen Sound will meet for the first time this season on Wednesday, November 23rd.
