Investigators have released the name of a man who died in a collision in Elgin County over the weekend.
The OPP says their officers were called out to the intersection of Richmond Rd. and Vienna Line around 8:37 p.m. on Sunday to reports of a crash between a blue Chrysler van and a black Honda motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and he’s since been identified as 41-year-old John Masales of Malahide Township.
Officers say his passenger, a 37-year-old man also from Malahide Township, was left with life threatening injuries and is currently listed in serious condition in hospital.
The 18-year-old woman driving the van as well as her three female passengers all between the ages of 16 and 18-years-old, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
Officers say their investigation into the collision is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-TIPS (8477).
Sunday night’s crash was the second fatal motorcycle collision within the span of a few hours in the London-area. Another motorcycle driver died in London late Sunday afternoon after a collision with a GMC Traverse at Hamilton Rd. and St. Julien Street around 5:45 p.m.
The driver’s name in that case has not been publicly released at this time.
