The OPP says officers have had a busy few weeks putting the brakes on speed demons on area roads.
Since the beginning of September officers pulled over six drivers allegedly travelling more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.
One of the most egregious cases came to the attention of Middlesex County OPP officers in London. It was at approximately 12:02 a.m. on Monday, September 19th when officers spotted a blue Suzuki motorcycle travelling south on Wharncliffe Rd South near Commissioners Rd. Police say the motorcycle was travelling in excess of 105km/h over the posted 50km/h speed limit.
A 22-year-old London man was charged in connection with the investigation and the motorcycle was impounded at the scene.
Officers say on September 4th, the OPP says a 51-year-old man from Mississauga was caught driving a Mercedes more than 65km/h over the 100km/h limit along Hwy. 402 near Glendon Dr. in Strathroy-Caradoc.
In each of the recent cases, the drivers’ vehicles were seized and their licenses were suspended for seven days. They were also charged with racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.
