The driver of a minivan rushed to hospital following a head-on collision with an ambulance on Highway 40 in Chatham has died of his injuries.
According to police, a northbound Ford minivan collided with a southbound Chatham-Kent EMS ambulance at around 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 19th on Highway 40 near Green Valley Line.
Hours later, OPP reported that 60-year-old Geoffrey Brereton of Chatham died of his injuries that afternoon. The following day, on August 20th, police issued a statement saying that the information was incorrect and Brereton remained in critical condition.
On Monday, August 29th, OPP announced that Brereton has died of his injuries.
The driver of the ambulance suffered non-life threatening injuries and the investigation is ongoing.
