Ontario’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate after a male was taken to hospital with an upper body injury after being arrested in Port Stanley.
Elgin County OPP were called to assist an ambulance in Port Stanley at around 1 a.m. on Friday. When officers arrive, the male subject was uncooperative with EMS and police personnel.
Once he was apprehended he was taken to a local hospital for treatment of an upper body injury.
As a result, the Special Investigation’s Unit has invoked its mandate and is now looking into the incident.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
