A case that made local and national headlines returns to the London courthouse Thursday.
The 38-year-old woman charged with assault in connection with an altercation at the Superking Supermarket in Westmount Mall did not appear in person when the case was heard last month.
Her lawyer informed the court that the accused was in hospital undergoing mental health treatment.
According to London Police, a Muslim woman was grocery shopping with her four-month-old son on June 20, 2016 when she was approached by a woman she didn’t know.
The victim was allegedly spat on and punched several times before the suspect is said to have grabbed the woman’s hijab and pulled her hair.
The suspect fled the scene.
