Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the London region ahead of possible severe thunderstorms.
Forecasters say a line of strong to severe thunderstorms has developed over Wisconsin. The thunderstorms are expected to move rapidly eastward and cross southern Ontario overnight and early Saturday morning.
The national weather service says it is unsure when the storms will reach southern Ontario.
London, Parkhill, Strathroy, Komoka, and the rest of Middlesex County are named in the special weather statement.
Strong wind gusts, frequent lightning, hail, and torrential downpours are all possible.
Environment Canada says it will continue to monitor the system and could issue watches or warnings this evening if necessary.
