Investigators say a beacon believed to be from the EgyptAir Flight 804 that crashed in the Mediterranean Sea last week has been picked up.
Egyptian chief investigator, Ayman Al-Moqadem, says the finding of the beacon narrows down the search to a five kilometre radius.
While a signal was picked up from the plane, the investigator says this does not mean a black box has been found.
Finding the black box would need highly sophisticated technology, says Al-Moqadem.
Instead, the signal that was picked up came from one of the devices on the plane transmitting its location.
The plane travelling from Paris to Cairo crashed last Thursday, killing all 66 people on board, including two Canadians.
