A popular social media platform is making some significant changes.
Officials with Twitter announced Tuesday morning that soon photos, videos and other media will no longer count against what is now a 140-character limit.
Names will also no longer count towards the character limit in retweets, which means users will no longer need to use “.@” which people currently use to broadcast Tweets broadly.
Twitter is also adding a retweet button to your own posts so you can resurface older content, or just create a more visually pleasing series of tweets.
No firm date was provided as to when the changes will take effect.
The San Francisco company is trying to make the messaging service more attractive and easier to use.
Twitter is trying to give developers time to make the necessary changes behind the scenes before they’re rolled out to users.
