Police say a 19-year-old London man is facing various charges in connection to an early morning firearms investigation Saturday in the downtown core.
It was around 2:35 a.m. when police say they received a report of a male possibly in possession of a handgun in the area of Richmond and Kent Streets.
A male believed to be possessing the firearm fled on foot when approached by officers, resulting in a chase, police said.

As they were maintaining the perimeter, police say an officer was assaulted by a male who attempted to enter the area. The male was taken into custody. Caleb Greenhow, 20, was charged with one count of Assaulting a Peace Officer. Police have not said whether the male was at all connected to the firearm incident.
Several hours later, around 7:40 a.m., police arrested a 19-year-old male at an address on Mount Pleasant Ave in connection to the investigation.
