London Police continue to investigate an overnight firearms investigation that saw two men taken into custody, with one facing an assault charge.
At around 2:35 a.m. Saturday, police say they received a report of a male possibly in possession of a handgun in the area of Richmond and Kent Street.
When officers approached the male believed to be in possession of the firearm, he fled on foot. Several officers were dispatched to the area and a perimeter was set up for public safety. Investigators say while maintaining the perimeter, an officer was assaulted by a man attempting to enter the area. The male was arrested and taken into custody.
20-year-old Caleb Greenhow is charged with one count of Assaulting a Peace Officer.
Later Saturday morning at approximately 3:12 a.m. officers recovered a handgun in the parking lot of an address on Kent Street. At 7:44 a.m. a second male was taken into the custody in relation to the firearms investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
