London Police have charged an 84-year-old woman in connection with an attempted murder-suicide.
A family member called 911 after the couple was found in the woman’s home around 7:30 Sunday evening.
Constable Ken Steeves tells Am980 the accused’s 83-year-old husband suffers from dementia related to an underlying medical condition and was living in a long term care facility.
“She had signed him out and brought him to her place and administered some medication to him and took some herself in an attempt murder-suicide.”
The investigation revealed the woman also attempted to poison their two cats, though neither was harmed.
The victim has since been released from hospital while the accused remains in hospital in good condition. She has a court date via audio set for Wednesday.
Constable Ken Steeves adds that police will not be identifying anyone involved in this incident.
“Because of the domestic nature of the relationship between the accused and victim, we’re not releasing identifying information in relation to each party.”
The unidentified 84-year-old woman faces charges of attempted murder and administering a poisonous substance to a domestic animal.
