Forest City Celebrates ‘National Tree Day’ by Giving Away Free Trees

London, Ontario, Canada / (CFPL AM) AM 980

The Forest City is looking to celebrate National Tree Day with some giveaways for Londoners.

On Wednesday, Mayor Joe Fontana and a number of councillors will be distributing free seedlings and saplings at nearly 30 locations throughout the city, including all 14 London Scotiabank branches, 3 libraries, and Masonville Place.

Seedlings and saplings are only available on a first come, first serve basis.

A list of where and when you can pick up a seedling or sapling is available on the city’s website.

The City of London, ReForest London, and other Million Tree Challenge partners are encouraging Londoners to grab a tree and do their part to help plant a million trees in ten years.

Once you grab a seedling or sapling, you’re asked to plant it in a suitable location and register it online at the Million Tree Challenge website.
