The Business Cares Food Drive returns for another year in London with the official launch coming on Friday morning.
Organizers will gather at Western University's London Hall to discuss the key planks of the annual drive.
Demand at the London Food Bank is up 19% over a year ago, which means the drive is more important than ever.
"Last year we raised more than 230,000 pounds of food for the food bank," said the drive's co-chair and London West MP Ed Holder. "That's through the tremendous generosity of Londoners throughout our community."
Last year, more than 300 London-based companies and organizations participated in the campaign.
This year's event will run thru the first three weeks of December, including some special events along the way.
London Knights home games on December 7th and 9th will be "Be a Fan, Bring a Can" games at Budweiser Gardens. Fans will be asked to bring non-perishable food items for the drive. Metro grocery stores will also be collecting donations on December 8th and 9th.
"We have several groups that are doing their own cares component, all tied to business cares," Holder said. "So, just before Christmas we can deliver a huge amount of food to the Food Bank to take care of London's most needy."
This is the 13th annual Business Cares campaign.
"It really matters," Holder said. "Everything you do."
