The Civic Holiday weekend is here, but it's already proven to be dangerous on roads and water ways.
However, it's not only police that are asking you to be safe this weekend.
Kevin Wedzinga has been living without his dad for just over a week.
54-year-old Andy, who was a realtor in London, drowned when he was thrown off the boat he was on in Lake Nippising, due to large waves.
He was not wearing a life jacket.
"Safety first. Have all your proper safety gear," Kevin said. "Think of family and think of friends first. Have a good time, but you want to be around for tomorrow and for your family."
He says the last week has been very difficult for his family. Andy left behind a wife, four children and six grandchildren.
In the wake of cases like Wedzinga's, Ontario's acting Chief Coroner will try to find common threads among the dozens of drownings in the province this summer.
Dr. Bert Lauwers says his review will be released later this year.
He is recommending that all Ontarians learn how to swim, calling it a basic life skill.
