Why won't the Premier "tap out" when it comes to MMA?

Premier Dalton McGuinty threw the proverbial sucker punch to Mixed Martial Arts fans once again this week.
On Tuesday, McGuinty was asked whether he plans to sanction the sport in Ontario. He reiterated his previous statements and said that changing the rules in the province isn't on his list of priorites.
When pressed by reporters, the premier replied: "In ultimate fighting, you can tap out."
"I'm tapping out on this," he said.
Anyone who watches the UFC will be able to tell you that tapping out means you lose the fight. Yet for whatever reason, Dalton McGuinty isn't willing to accept defeat on this issue -- at least not yet.
Big picture McGuinty's current stance isn't devestating news. Even your most hardcore UFC fan would admit the provincial government has much, much bigger issues to deal with at the moment.
But the sport is wildly popular in Ontario (and North America for that matter) and an opportunity to generate new tourism dollars off that popularity is slowly passing the McGuinty liberals by.
When you're facing a record deficit of nearly $25 billion dollars every little bit helps.

unfortunately for Dalton, he is being held back by his ideology. it is the liberals that lend support to every special interest group under the sun and because of this, he cannot give the green light to MMA because the next day he will have the anti-violence in sports groups on his ass condemning him for bringing MMA to ontario.

The UFC must know just how much tax and spin-off profit is generated for a city by hosting their events. If I were Dana White, I'd write that giant number on giant billboards all around the GTA, Ottawa, London and maybe even Sudbury. I don't think people understand how much we're talking about. Even if you don't give a sh*t about the UFC, they're offering millions for cities to use as they please.
Besides, isn't Ontario completely broke? What exactly are we trying to prove? Why are we taking this high-brow approach like we're somehow more civilized than Quebec and Alberta.
Maybe Dalton got punched a lot in grade school?
