The new service being offered in London to get rid of your Christmas tree starts Saturday.
The City of London will be collecting trees curbside after 7 a.m. for Zones C, D, and E on Saturday, January 7th.
The City rolled out the program so more trees can be composted instead of being sent to a landfill. All temporary Christmas tree drop-off locations that were available in years past are permanently closed.
All you need to do is make sure your lights, decorations and tinsel have been removed from the tree before taking it out to the curb, and do not put it inside a plastic bag. Make sure trees are placed within one metre of the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of collection, but no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before.
Christmas trees and other holiday greenery can also be dropped off at any of London’s four EnviroDepots.
