Oxford County OPP are investigating after a citizen found a dead dog in a cage near the bank of the Thames River in Zorra Township.
The dog was found inside a black wire cage on December 27th along the river on the east side of the 15th Line just south of Road 64.
According to a Facebook Post by Kismutt Rescue, the dog is a brindle-coloured female Staffordshire Terrier who has had pups and weighed roughly 60 lbs.
“Her lips are frozen so it was difficult for me to see her teeth,” Kimberly writes, “but she does not look that old from what I can see.”
A silver metal prong collar was found on the dog along with a red and white floral patterned blanket. No identifying tags were found.
The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating along with OPP.
