With Santa and his reindeer set to visit the region Saturday night, the clock is quickly ticking down for anyone who still needs to do some last minute shopping.
Interac believes December 23 will be the busiest shopping day of the year, after Canadians made over 21 million transactions and spent over $1 billion on this date last year.
Grocery stores were most popular, followed by discount stores and those that sell alcohol. There were similar statistics seen in 2014 as well.
A survey commissioned and released by Interac and conducted by Maru/Matchbox suggests one third of Canadians (31 per cent) will be shopping Friday, which is nearly the same number who said they will be working.
They also found one third of respondents were concerned about overspending, while four out of ten (42 per cent) felt financially strained during the holidays.
Masonville, Westmount and White Oaks Malls all open at 9:30a.m. Friday morning. Masonville and White Oaks close at 9:30p.m., while Westmount closes at 9p.m.
If you wait until Christmas eve Saturday, Masonville and White Oaks Malls are open from 8a.m. until 5p.m., Westmount is open 8:30a.m. til 5p.m.
Every Walmart in the region, including those in London, Woodstock, Strathroy, and St. Thomas, will be open until 8p.m. Saturday night.
Shoppers Drug Mart hours vary by location for Christmas eve but three locations will be open until midnight: Wharncliffe at Baseline, Huron at Adelaide, and Wellington at Commissioners.
Most LCBO and Beer stores will be open until 6p.m. on Saturday, and will be closed for Christmas Day on Sunday.
Not too many places in the city will be open for Christmas Day on Sunday, but the Shoppers location on Hamilton Rd will be open from 10a.m. til 6p.m.
Those hoping to take in a movie are in luck; Westmount VIP, SilverCity Masonville, and Rainbow Cinemeas are all open Christmas Day Sunday.
