Provincial police say no injuries were reported and charges are expected to be laid after a tractor trailer’s tires came off as it was travelling down the westbound 401 near Blandford-Blenheim on Wednesday.
Oxford OPP say they responded to the scene on the highway near Oxford Road 29 around 6:30 p.m.
Preliminary investigation has found that two other vehicles travelling on the westbound 401 struck the tires after they came off of the tractor trailer.
Officials from the Ministry of Transportation attended the scene to assist in the investigation, which police say is ongoing.
Charges will be laid in the incident, police said.
“The OPP would like to remind all drivers and operators of both passenger and commercial vehicles to ensure their wheels and tires are installed properly,” said police in a media release. “Drivers need to inspect and monitor the wheel fasteners in an ongoing manner to ensure these preventable wheel separations can be avoided.”
