The Business Cares Food Drive wraps up Thursday morning, but officials say they still need a big push in monetary donations.
The organization is meeting at their headquarters at 8 a.m. where several people who have been involved in the campaign are going to share stories about how the food drive has had an impact on them. That runs to 9:15 a.m., then they will load up the trucks to get a final total for this year’s drive.
Campaign Chair Wayne Dunn says cash and cheque donations can still be made at their headquarters, 1275 Hubrey Road, online, at any RBC branch or Finch dealerships in London, or call Dunn at 519-661-9803 to arrange a pick-up.
Dunn says they are doing well with non-perishable donations, but are only about two thirds of the way to their financial goal. He says cash and cheques will make a big difference in the New Year.
“We can purchase the baby food and the fresh milk and eggs and food that we need in the winter months,” Dunn tells AM980.
“That’s why the campaign is great and whatever anybody’s comfortable giving, we’re quite pleased, but at this stage of the campaign, so close to the end, where we really are in need right now is in the cash and the cheques.”
The campaign supports the London Food Bank, which Dunn says has seen a 12% increase in usage year over year.
“They’re serving 3500 families per months which translates into 9000 individuals. The amount of epople that are helped from this campaign, from the generosity of Londoners, is just enormous. For that, I truly do thank everybody.”
Dunn says they will continue to accept donations past the campaign deadline.
Again, to donate financially, you can visit their headquarters, any RBC branch, Finch dealership, online, or call Wayne Dunn at 519-661-9803 to arrange a pick-up.
