The Business Cares Food Drive wraps up Thursday morning, but officials say they still need a big push in monetary donations.
Campaign Chair Wayne Dunn says cash and cheque donations can be made at their headquarters, online, at any RBC branch or Finch dealerships in London.
Dunn says they are doing well food-wise, but cash and cheques will make a big difference in the New Year.
“We can purchase the baby food and the fresh milk and eggs and food that we need in the winter months,” Dunn tells AM980.
“That’s why the campaign is great and whatever anybody’s comfortable giving, we’re quite pleased, but at this stage of the campaign, so close to the end, where we really are in need right now is in the cash and the cheques.”
The campaign supports the London Food Bank, which Dunn says has seen a 12% increase in usage year over year.
“They’re serving 3500 families per months which translates into 9000 individuals. The amount of epople that are helped from this campaign, from the generosity of Londoners, is just enormous. For that, I truly do thank everybody.”
The campaign wraps up with an event Thursday morning at 8 a.m. at the food drive headquarters at 1275 Hubrey Road but Dunn says they will continue to accept donations past the deadline.
