Friday is the last official distribution day for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper program, and Corus Radio London wants to help the donation drive end with a bang!
Residents are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys and cash donations at the Delta Armories Friday morning for the FM96 Taz Show Drive-Thru Toy Drive, along with the Country 104 Toy Drive and the Fresh Radio Toys for Tweens Toy Drive.
The donations will be delivered to the Salvation Army for the Hamper program, which Spokesperson Shannon Wise admits has run low on certain toys.
“Yesterday, we didn’t have enough toy donations to meet the need for 8 to 12 year olds, so that was pretty unfortunate and we actually had to have some families scheduled to come back today to complete the registration process and pick up their toy hamper,” said Wise.
The greatest need currently is for toys for children aged 9 to 12.
“It being our last day, we rely heavily on the Corus Radio Drive-Thru Toy Drive, which all the stations generously work so hard at to make sure that nobody goes without this Christmas, and we greatly appreciate that,” said Wise.
The Corus Radio London Drive-Thru Toy Drives run at the Delta Armories until 9:30a.m. Friday morning.
After the drive wraps up, donations will be dropped off at the Western Fair District’s Progress Building for the final official distribution day for the Christmas Hamper program. The program wraps up at 3:30p.m. on Friday afternoon.
But Wise notes that toys will also be accepted at the Sally Ann’s Centre of Hope all next week.
“We will still take donations because all the way up til Christmas Eve, they will be needed in some dire situations,” she said. “The Centre of Hope is located at 281 Wellington Street, and that’s one of the Salvation Army’s locations, and they will be accepting donations 24/7.”
