The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to investigate a fatal fire in Woodstock.
Emergency crews responded to the single family home at 38 Kensington Street shortly after 5:30 Monday morning.
When crews arrived there was heavy smoke and flames visible.
“Upon our suppression duties we did find one individual deceased in the home,” Lisa Woods, Public Information Coordinator with Woodstock Fire tells AM980.
“Doing suppression activities we did have one firefighter injured. Our firefighter was treated and released at Woodstock hospital.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the identity of the victim has not been released.
Damage is believed to be extensive but an estimate has not been released.
