London police say a pedestrian is in hospital and a 33 year old man is facing impaired driving charges following a collision in an apartment building parking lot in the city’s east end.
Police say witnesses saw a U-Haul being driven erratically at the intersection of Kipps Lane and Adelaide Street just before 10 p.m. Saturday night.
The truck entered a parking lot just east of the intersection and struck a pedestrian, according to police. Witnesses tried to intervene and called police who responded to the scene. The driver stopped the vehicle only after striking the front entrance to the apartment building.
A 33-year-old London man was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault.
The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
