Days after police appealed to the public for information in the case of a man wanted for stealing a bag full of children’s Christmas gifts from a local church, authorities say they have arrested and charged a 62-year-old man
According to police, the theft occurred at the Colborne United Church on Colborne St., south of Oxford, Monday evening at 7:25 p.m. Police say the man removed a large garbage bag full of 10 gift packages the church had put together for kids.
Police released a surveillance photo on Wednesday and on Friday said they had identified and arrested the suspect.
“Because of the fact that we have put this individuals’ photo out through social media, we won’t be releasing his name at this time,” said London Police Cst. Sandasha Bough.
The unidentified man faces a charge of theft under $5,000, police said.
“The presents that were stolen have not been recovered,” Cst. Bough said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact London Police or Crime Stoppers.
