An Amber Alert for a 9-year-old girl from Welland has ended, but Niagara Regional Police are treating the situation as a missing person investigation.
Constable Virginia Moir says enough time has elapsed that they have concluded the Amber Alert.
According to police, Layla Sabry was last seen at 6 King Street in Welland on Thursday evening. Sabry is believed to be with her mother 38-year-old Allan Haist, who also goes by the names Kate Dillon or Lana Marie.
Officers stated that police were operating under a court order to return the child to her father.
Sabry is described as white, about 4’2” tall, with a thin build, brown hair, and brown eyes.
Police say Haist is described as 5’1” tall, with brown, mid length hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Niagara Regional Police Service or Ontario Provincial Police.
