Police in Woodstock are asking for the public’s help as they investigate the theft of a dog.
Officers say an Alaskan Malamute named Thunder (pictured at right) was taken from its kennel in the backyard of a home on Devonshire Ave. sometime between 2 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 27th.
Mackenzie Gall tells AM980 her family has two dogs, and her dad was the one who discovered Thunder was gone.
“By the time 7:30 came around, he walked upstairs and noticed that there was a big Dodge Ram 1500 2015 sitting across the street from our house with a dog kennel in the back. So, we’re under the assumption that they were coming back for our other dog,” she explains.
“My dad woke me up and I was like ‘what do you mean he’s gone? There’s no way’.”
The suspect vehicle was spotted in a parking lot at 925 Devonshire Ave. and it’s described as a newer grey Dodge Ram pick-up truck with a dog kennel in the cargo portion.
Gall tells AM980 she’s had Thunder since she was about 7 years old.
“He’s 9 years old. He’s been our family dog for quite some time now. He has kind of like a pink scar on his nose.”
She adds that the backyard has a 7 foot fence that goes around the entire backyard with a gate.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Woodstock Police at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
