Huron County OPP say a 61-year-old man from Bluewater has died following a fatal motor vehicle collision Saturday west of Zurich.
Police, Huron County EMS and Zurich Fire Department responded to the two vehicle crash at the intersection of Zurich-Hensall Road and Bronson Line around 12 p.m.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a southbound Jeep SUV failed to stop at the stop sign at Zurich-Hensall Road and was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet pick-up truck as it crossed into the intersection, police said.
According to investigators, the force of the collision caused the driver and lone occupant of the Chevrolet to be ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He has been identified as John Vanderburgt, 61, of the Municipality of Bluewater.
The driver and lone occupant of the Jeep, a 57-year-old Mount Vernon, Illinois man, was taken to hospital for minor injuries.
Police say a Highway Traffic Act charge is pending.
Zurich-Hensall Road and Bronson Line were closed around the area for about seven hours before police cleared the scene just after 7 p.m.
