Police have identified the body found in Westminster Ponds as that of a 19-year-old Simcoe man.
It was around 3 a.m. Sunday when a canoe with three people aboard tipped on one of the ponds. Two occupants, a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, made it safely to shore, while the third never resurfaced.
A search of the area conducted by the London Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, and London Fire Department ended shortly before 2 p.m. Monday when the missing man’s body was recovered.
He has since been identified as 19-year-old Adam Nigh of Simcoe.
According to his Facebook page, Nigh was attending Fanshawe College, working towards becoming a mechanic. He had a passion for racing, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Officers say their investigation is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected in the case.
