A dramatic rescue near CPRI after a 15-year-old girl fell down a river embankment.
The London Fire Department Rescue Team and Marine Unit were dispatched to the scene on Sanatorium Road shortly before 9:30 Thursday morning.
Officials say the embankment is approximately 100 feet, and the teen landed about 20 feet from the top.
Platoon Chief Shawn Fitzgerald tells AM980 the rescue operation took about 30 minutes.
“The Tech Rescue Team was sent to the location, and had to rappel down using ropes to secure the patient, the patient was placed in a stokes basket and then was raised using ropes back up to the grassed area.”
The patient was assessed at the scene and was then transported to hospital.
“Injuries appeared minor,” said Fitzgerald. “There were no obvious signs of trauma to the patient.”
