A 38-year-old London woman charged in connection with an assault at a the Superking Supermarket in Westmount Mall over the summer has been declared not mentally fit enough to stand trial.
According to the London Free Press, the woman appeared in court briefly on Wednesday. The case has been referred to the Ontario Review Board to monitor her fitness.
The accused was ordered to appear before the board within 45 days. Unless she is otherwise determined fit, the case will not return to court.
Investigators had said a Muslim woman was grocery shopping with her four-month-old son on June 20th, when she was approached by a woman she didn’t know.
The victim was allegedly spat on and punched several times before the suspect is said to have grabbed the woman’s hijab and pulled her hair.
