London Police are searching for a 19-year-old Simcoe man who hasn’t been seen since he and two friends tipped their canoe in a London pond over the weekend.
Emergency crews have been combing the area of Pondmills Road near Southdale since early yesterday morning, when Police were first called to the scene.
Officers received a call around 3 a.m. on Sunday that three individuals went out on a canoe. According to investigators, they were not wearing life-jackets at the time.
London Police Constable Ken Steeves stated that a 21-year-old-male and a 19-year-old female from London it back to shore.
“There is no indication that he’s left this area,” Steeves said. “We are not utilizing the public’s services as of yet. We do have his id. We do know who he is. We do have all of our available resources to look for him.”
Pondmills Road has been reopened to traffic between Bradley Avenue and Southdale Road following an earlier closure.
However, the park area around Westminster Pond is closed to the public as the search continues.
