It’s a new way to pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Canadian Blood Services is asking the public to give the gift of life this November 11th.
Members of the Forces have donated more than 30,000 units to the national blood supply since 2006.
In the last year of WWII, Canadians at large donated 890,000 units of blood to be used in military hospitals.
Canadian Blood Services said this year alone 100,000 new donors are needed, due in part to recent updates to donation rules addressing travel and health-related matters.
