Provincial police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 401 near Woodstock Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the westbound side of the highway near the Woodstock ONroute around 6:45 a.m.
According to investigators, the initial collision occurred between two vehicles on the westbound 401.
“As a result of that collision, further collisions occurred on eastbound Highway 401, when an occupant from the westbound collision was struck on the eastbound side of Highway 401,” police said in a media release.
“The individual was a passenger in one of the cars, but at this point in time we’re unable to say whether the person was (ejected from) the vehicle or whether they got out,” Cst. Lisa Narancsik told AM980 Friday morning. “We’re still trying to do our interviews and investigation to determine what happened.”
Police have identified the deceased as Terry Childs, 55, of Kitchener.
Police say all other individuals involved in the crash were treated by paramedics and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Both directions of the highway were closed for around five hours between Sweaburg Road and Foldens Line. Police reopened the east and westbound 401 around 12:30 p.m.
