Boler Mountain will hold a major ground breaking ceremony Friday.
Boler has announced a $6.1 million chalet will be built at the base of the mountain over the coming year.
Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony and BBQ lunch at 689 Griffith Street at 12 p.m.
Officials say the 16,000 square foot, three-level facility will bring a new level of guest services for enthusiasts of outdoor activities.
“As we grew into a year-round centre, there was increasing demand from the community for a better chalet facility,” says Gary Curtis, President of the volunteer Board of Directors at Boler Mountain.
“The new chalet will allow Boler Mountain to provide our guests with a spectacular view of the ski hill from a comfortable and accessible facility. The state of the art kitchen and dining facilities will also enable Boler to host weddings and corporate events in conjunction with our current slate of outdoor adventure activities.”
The new chalet will replace the old one, which is now 44-years-old.
The chalet is expected to be operational in time for the 2017-18 snow season.
Officials say this is the most financially ambitious undertaking in Boler’s 70 year history.
