Michael Houser went from being an undrafted Free Agent all the way to CHL Goaltender of the Year. He led his team to the Memorial Cup final in Shawinigan and lost a 2-1 heart breaker to the host Cataractes that ended his junior career.
The image of Houser on his knees, head down, at the edge of his crease, inside the Centre Bionest is one that many London Knight fans will always see when they think of how close that young team came to its ultimate goal. But Houser was one of the key reasons London was in that position.
He posted a .925 save percentage in the 2011-12 regular season and bumped it up a few points in the playoffs.
He earned a contract with the Florida Panthers out of junior and is now into his fifth season in professional hockey as a part of the Columbus Blue Jackets-Cleveland Monsters-Cincinnati Cyclones system.
AM 980’s Mike Stubbs caught up with Houser on an off-day in Cincinnati.
