A local MPP wants to hear your concerns about the future of hydro in Ontario.
London-Fanshawe New Democrat Teresa Armstrong is hosting a free town hall on Saturday to discuss electricity costs, privatization, and possible community action.
She tells AM980 she wants to bring people’s concerns to Queen’s Park.
“We want to give people the opportunity to come in and tell their stories. If they bring their bills in, we’re copying their bills – redacting their personal information. I’m hoping to bring that information to Queen’s Park to let this government know how people’s lives are being affected by these exorbitant amounts that they have to pay for a necessity,” she explains.
“We all need hydro, it’s not a choice, we need it to operate our homes. It’s becoming so, so expensive and I just want to make sure the government hears the voices of London-Fanshawe and Londoners at large as to how it’s affecting their everyday lives.”
Armstrong says they plan to offer child care activities so that parents who are unable to find childcare in time for the town hall can still take part.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at LiUNA Hall at 56 Firestone Blvd which is just off of Clarke Rd at Gore Rd.
