An animation company with ties to Hollywood has set up shop in London.
Bron Animation Studio, a division of Bron Media out of BC, opened an office on Richmond Row in London at the beginning of the month.
Bron Media’s President and CEO Aaron Gilbert hails from London originally and for the last 23 years has worked from Vancouver and LA producing more than 60 films.
The London office will be overseen by Kris Pearn, another London native, who’s directing an adaptation of The Willoughbys.
President and CEO of the London Economic Development Corporation Kapil Lakhotia is excited to welcome Bron to London.
“It’s great to have talented Londoners that are coming back to the city to start their studios and companies here,” said Lakhotia. “Bron is an industry leader in animation and has a lot of significant projects in Hollywood and other areas as well.”
He believes London is becoming a hub for this kind of industry.
“Bron is joining a healthy mix of over 300 companies in our digital creative sector,” Lakhotia said. “It’s a very diverse sector in which over 40 companies are involved in multimedia production, so we certainly are experiencing a lot of interest, not only from new companies looking to locate here, but also a lot of expansions underway at existing companies. Over the last two years, this sector has added close to 2,000 to the economy.”
The new office will create up to 8 new jobs.
