One person is dead after a train collided with a pickup truck in Zorra Township.
Oxford County OPP were called to the scene on the 13th Line between Road 68 and Road 74, just west of Thamesford, at around 2a.m. Monday morning.
According to investigators, a Canadian Pacific train was travelling westbound when it hit a pick-up truck, which was stopped on the tracks facing southbound.
The impact from the crash pushed the truck around 100 yards, before it came to rest in the south side ditch.
The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He’s only been identified as a male as Police work to notify his family.
The four CP Rail employees who were on the train at the time of the collision were not hurt.
The 13th Line was closed for several hours between Road 68 and Road 74, but will be re-opening shortly.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The OPP Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Team attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The Zorra Township Fire Department as well as Oxford and Middlesex EMS attended and assisted at the scene.
