A former London Jr. Knight has made the jump to the big team.
Alex Turko was an eighth round pick of the London Knights in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection and has signed a standard player’s agreement with the team.
Turko is 6’0 and 170 pounds and spent last year in the GOJHL with the St. Thomas Stars. He returned to the Stars to begin this year and has three goals and two assists in 13 games.
Turko has a strong showing at the 2015 OHL Cup, while still with the Jr. Knights, recording five assists in six games.
He is a two-way centre and he will wear number 12 for London.
The Knights saw their unbeaten-in-regulation streak come to an end on Saturday in Erie. They will start a stretch of three games in four days this weekend as Kitchener comes to Budweiser Gardens on Thursday, bringing another former Jr. Knight in Eric Guest and a record of 6-2-0-1. The Rangers have been getting scoring from throughout their lineup, but of late Jeremy Bracco and Adam Mascherin have been hot.
Kitchener also has the OHL’s leading rookie scorer in Greg Meireles.
On Friday, the Knights will play host to the Saginaw Spirit and then they will head for Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.
Tickets are available for both home games. Call 519-681-0800, visit the Knights’ Armouries or go online to www.londonknights.com
