Police in Windsor say an 18-month-old baby has been found safe after he was allegedly abducted by his biological mother.
Officers announced just before 8:30 a.m. Monday they were investigating after an 18-month-old boy was taken from a home in the 1200 block of California Avenue by his biological mother.
Investigators say the little boy was being cared for by a family member at the address and they contacted police.
“The mother snuck into the residence and took the child. She fled the scene and we have all our resources right now attempting to locate her and the child,” Cst. Andrew Drouillard of the Windsor Police told AM980 Monday morning.
Shortly after noon on Monday, police tweeted that the boy was found and is safe. No other information has been released at this time.

Windsor Police identified the child’s mother as 33-year-old Karen Hoyt. Police also notified surrounding communities like LaSalle and Amherstburg of the situation and other police agencies assisted in the search.
While the boy has been safely located, the investigation is ongoing.
