Celebrated Canadian contractor Mike Holmes and his daughter, Sherry, stopped in the Forest City to open the Dream Home on Humberside Common.
This year’s Dream Home builder, Wastell Homes, has built prize homes for previous lotteries. Doug and Sue Wastell gave the pair a tour of the house.
Wastell Homes was recently made a “Holmes Approved Homes” builder.
“It is a unique package not done anywhere in the world except right here in Canada and moving into the United States,” Holmes said. “The whole reason for the ‘Holmes Approved Home’ is find the best builders who care about what what they do, who want to build better homes and are unfortunately not usually recognized for it.”

Holmes stated that Mike Holmes Inspections come in and document the build to ensure that it is verified by a third party inspection.
“I want it done right the first time for the homeowners and I want to recognize the builders that care,” Holmes said.
Mike and Sherry were presented with London Knights jerseys before cutting the ribbon on the home.
“Sue has a great imagination and design,” Holmes said. “The ice rink, which is brilliant. Cause not only will the kids play in it and bring in all the kids off the street to play in. But putting up the tempered glass and making it look like a true ice rink is very inviting and kinda sexy.”
The home will be open until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
