A death investigation is underway in Woodstock involving criminal investigators from London and Woodstock’s police services and the OPP, authorities announced Friday.
As the multi-jurisdictional investigation is in its early stages, details remain scarce. West Region OPP say the probe, initially spearheaded by Woodstock Police, began on Sept. 29.
In a release, provincial police said the investigation may encompass Woodstock, London, as well as Oxford and Brant counties. Detective Inspector Ron Hagerman of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch was assigned to the investigation on Oct. 5 by the province’s Major Case Management Coordinator.
Police say a suspect has been identified, and add they don’t believe there is “any further threat to public safety at this time.”
“Investigators from each police jurisdiction are at the very early stages of the investigation working toward confirming information and gathering evidence alleged to form part of this investigation,” said the release.
No further information has been released.
