A 30-year-old man from Warwick Township has been identified as the victim of a fiery overnight crash south of Parkhill.
It was at approximately 11:58 p.m. on Tuesday when Middlesex OPP, North Middlesex Fire Services and Middlesex-London EMS were called to the scene on Kerwood Rd., just north of Elm Tree Dr.
When they arrived, they found a van had collided with a hydro pole on the east side of the road, and caught on fire.
Middlesex-London EMS tell AM980 bystanders who were travelling in the vehicle behind the van stopped to help, pulling the two occupants out of the fiery wreck before emergency crews got to the scene.
The OPP says the driver of the van, a 60-year-old man from Bosanquet Township, was treated by EMS and transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. He’s currently listed in critical condition.
Officers say the passenger, who they’ve identified as 30-year-old Jonathan Hooks of Warwick Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.
EMS officials say one of the bystanders was treated for minor burns to their hands. There’s no word on their gender or age.
Paramedics from the Thedford base of Lambton County EMS also assisted with the call.
Middlesex County OPP say their investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
