A single vehicle crash south of Parkhill has claimed the life of a man in his 30s.
It was at approximately 11:58 p.m. on Tuesday when Middlesex-London EMS were called to the scene on Kerwood Rd., just north of Elm Tree Dr.
When they arrived, they found a van had collided with a hydro pole on the east side of the road, and caught on fire.
Bystanders who were travelling in the vehicle behind the van stopped to help, pulling the two occupants out of the fiery wreck before emergency crews got to the scene.
Officials say the driver, a man in his 60s, was treated and transported to hospital first in Strathroy, then to the London Health Sciences Centre, with life threatening injuries.
The passenger, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity hasn’t been made public at this time.
EMS officials say one of the bystanders was treated for minor burns to their hands. There’s no word on their gender or age.
Paramedics from the Thedford base of Lambton County EMS also assisted with the call.
Middlesex County OPP are investigating the cause of the crash.
