OPP have shut down a section of Hwy. 402 in the London area following a deadly fuel truck crash.
Emergency crews responded to the scene on the 402 near Wonderland Rd. at around 7:30 Monday morning.
OPP say the transport truck was travelling eastbound on the 402 when the driver lost control. The truck struck the centre median and over-turned as a result of the impact.

“The driver of that vehicle has succumbed to injury,” said OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor. “Presently the police, fire and ambulance and other officials are on scene and dealing with the aftermath of this crash.” OPP have blocked off both directions of Hwy. 402 between Wonderland Road and the 401 split and Rektor is urging motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
“This highway is going to be closed down for a significant period of time while we work on removing the vehicle and securing the load. Again, it’s a fuel truck and there are some environmental concerns at this point but no other risks.”
The Ministry of the Environment has been contacted and the OPP traffic management unit is at the scene investigating.
