London Police say a charge of attempted murder has been laid against a 46-year-old London man in connection to a stabbing Wednesday in the city’s northeast end.
It was around 8:30 p.m. when emergency crews were called to an apartment at 45 Oakville Ave., in the area of Huron St. and Clarke Rd.
Details about the incident remain limited, but police say a 26-year-old female was found at the scene suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was taken to hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries to her head and chest. Authorities have confirmed that she has since been released from hospital.
An adult male was taken into custody. Police announced just after 3 p.m. Thursday that an unidentified 46-year-old London man had been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
- One count of attempt murder
- Nine counts of breach of Probation
- One count of theft under $5,000
- One count of weapons dangerous
- One count of break and enter and commit
The name of the accused is not being released “due to the nature of the relationship between the victim and the accused,” police said in a media release.
Officials say the incident does not appear to be a random act, and add the investigation is ongoing.
