Middlesex OPP say a 63-year-old school bus driver is dead following a fatal single-vehicle crash and rollover Tuesday just north of London.
No children were on the bus when the crash occurred just before 9:20 a.m. on Twelve Mile Rd. between Highbury Ave. and Adelaide St, police said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed the bus was travelling west on the Twelve Mile when it struck the the roadway’s north side shoulder. Police say the bus then traveled south across the road and struck a tree, causing the bus to roll over.
The driver and lone occupant of the bus, a 63-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. Her name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Police closed Twelve Mile Rd from Highbury Ave. to Adelaide St. for several hours. The roadway re-opened shortly before 1:45 p.m.
