One person is dead and another is injured following a fatal crash just west of Ilderton.
Middlesex County OPP and Middlesex Centre Fire Services were called to the intersection of Ilderton Road and Vanneck Road at 6:08 p.m. Sunday evening following a collision between a white pickup truck and a black van.
The male driver of the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the van, also male, had to be extricated from the vehicle and taken to hospital by Ornge air ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The drivers were the only people in each of the vehicles.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, police haven’t said if any charges will be laid. Police say the investigation is in its early stages.
A hydro pole was broken as a result of the collision, police say both vehicles came to rest off the roadway, on the northwest corner of the intersection.
Provincial Police say the intersection was closed overnight while the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators probed the crash and Hydro One repaired the hydro pole.
